Biography

Coşkun Irmak was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1961. He graduated from the Department of Sociology in the Faculty of Letter at Ege University. He then continued his study of dramatic writing at the Department of Performing Arts of Dokuz Eylül University for 2 years. Together with being a dramatist and an artist, Irmak served as a vice chair (1992-1993) and a chairman (1993-1994) of the Diyarbakır State Theatre. He has also been a member of literature committees. He has won many awards for his works including: “İtaat Deneyi”, “Eylül Penceresinden İki Kozyatağı Manzarası”, “Elli Metre” and “Gece Boyunca”. Between 2000 and 2002, Irmak served as a general chairman of Kültür-Sen. In 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, he served as an acting director in the Van State Theatre. Irmak has written 39 plays including 1 children’s play with 4 versions and 18 short plays. He is known for his work on Oyle Bir Gecer Zaman ki (2010)
