Levent was born in Izmir in 1950. He finished at Izmir Turkish College. After graduating from the Theater Department at the Ankara State Conservatory in 1977, he worked at the State Theatre as an actor,and later as a director. Levent taught creative acting at the Faculty of Educational Science of Ankara University, Eskişehir Anadolu University, the Theater Department of New York University, the Theater Department of Berlin College of Art School, Yorkshire Bretton Hall College, and Warwick University. Together with the European Parliament, he organized theater meeting projects and directed workshops in Belgium, Luxembourg, and Hungary as one of the committee members and organizers. Levent has also directed many theater workshops in France and Tunisia for a long time. In addition, he has presented drama programs on radio and television. Levent has directed theatrical and practical works in order to introduce and spread theater culture in Turkey. He also served as General Director of Theatre and Vice General Director in the State Theatre. Turkish plays he directed, including Ülkü Ayvaz’s “Yeniden Yaratma,” have been performed in many festivals in Russia, Canada, South Korea, Iran, and North Cyprus. Bernada Alba’s play “Evi” was adapted for ballet by Levent.
