Biography

GORAN DEVIC was born in 1971 in Sisak. He graduated in film and TV directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, where he is currently working as an assistant professor at the Directing Department. He is the author of numerous documentaries which have been awarded both in Croatia and abroad: “Imported Crows”, “Nothing Nice to Say”, “3” and “Happy Land”. Film “Imported Crows” has received awards in Motovun, Sarajevo and Croatian Film Days and it was shown at dozens of international festivals. “The Blacks”, his first feature film, codirected and cowritten with Zvonimir Juric, has received four Croatian and eight international film awards, including the Grand Prix awards at the Linz, Ljubljana and Belgrade festivals. In 2010, “The Blacks” was the Croatian candidate for the Academy Awards and it won the City of Zagreb Award in the same year.
