Gabriel Sîrbu was born in 1970 in Bucharest, Romania. He studies computers in high school then biology in college. In 1990 moves to live in Israel. Receives a B.Sc. in biology but starts studying video editing. Returns to Romania to study film directing in 1996. Graduates in 2000. His graduation film An Invitation to Lunch was selected in the 2002 Academy Awards competition after winning the largest short-film festival in North America, Palm Springs ISFF and several other prizes. Works as a teaching assistant at the National University of Cinema and Theatre Arts – Bucharest. He is a writer and director, known for Life's Hard (2007), Invitatie la masa (2000) and Pe macara (2010).
