Biography

VINKO MÖDERNDORFER was born in 1958. He graduated in theatre directing from the Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. Apart from films, he also directs in the theatre, opera and on television. He is also a writer – he has published more than 40 books. He made his first feature film, "Predmestje" (Outskirts), in 2004, followed by "Pokrajina Št.2" (Landscape No.2) in 2008. Both films were based on his novels with identical titles and they were both shown in Venice and won numerous domestic and international awards. Film "Predmestje" was, apart from Venice, also shown in three other A category festivals: Montreal, Karlovy Vary and Cannes. Film "Pokrajina Št.2" was the Slovenian candidate for Oscar for best foreign language film. The film won six awards on the Festival of Slovenian Film and two international awards. The film’s sales agent is French company Wide Management, which has sold it to distributors in 11 countries so far. "Inferno" is his third feature film.
