Maya Vitkova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1978. In 2001 she graduated in Film and TV Directing from NATFA. She has worked as an assistant director and casting director for over 20 Bulgarian and foreign film productions. In 2008 she was the executive producer of Kamen Kalev's Eastern Plays. Codirected, together with Svetoslav Draganov, the documentary Mothers and Daughters (2007). Director of the shorts Stanka Goes Home(2010) and My Tired Father (2011). Viktoria (2014) is her full - length fiction debut.
