Biography

Born in 1957 in Athens, Stella Theodorakis studied Economics (BA & Master) in the School of Law, University of Athens and Film Direction in Stavrakos Film School. She furthermore acquired a M.A. in Philosophy of Culture and a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Art, University La Sorbonne-Paris, under the title: The Avant-Garde Cinema of the Twenties in France and Germany. She has published numerous articles on cinema, written and edited books and festival’s catalogues. She is the author of Avant-garde Cinema: Abstract Art, Dada, Cubism, Surrealism, Nefeli, Athens 1990. She has been Associate professor at the University of Crete (Faculty of Theatre and Music Studies), Associate professor at the Athens University of Fine Arts (Postgraduate Program on Digital Art), and is now teaching at the Aristotle University (Faculty of Film Studies).
