Maria Stanisheva is a director/producer of documentary and animated film born in Sofia, Bulgaria. Graduate of Sofia University, Central European University, Budapest and New York Film Academy's Documentary Filmmaking program. Based in Brooklyn, NY, Maria divides her time between freelance video production and working on her own film projects. Production portfolio includes Between Earth and Sky (documentary short, 25', 2012) and Father (animated-documentary, 16', 2012), awarded 26 times, including the Golden Dove for Animated Film at DOK Leipzig Festival 2012 and 1st Prize for Animated Documentary Film at Chicago International Children's Film Festival 2013. Currently working on her first feature documentary project, Maria's main focus of interest are social issue documentaries and experimenting with mixed genres.
