Topal Osman was born in 1883 in Giresun. He received his nickname because of his crippled left leg from the Balkan war. He was involved in the Caucasian Front in World War I; Following the occupation of Izmir by the Greek Black Sea began to struggle against the Greeks gang in Topal Osman, Mustafa Kemal was appointed commander of the Guards Regiment in 1920. Osman did not surrender to the security forces and was wounded and captured in a shootout at his home in Ankara. Topal Osman died in 1923.
