The Little Prince

Synopsis:

Luka is a 12-year-old boy suffering from muscular dystrophy. His body is dete- riorating, he is weak and can barely move anymore. He needs assistance with even the basic chores like getting dressed, washing, and eating. He does not shy away from the truth, but he also refuses to be pitied or felt sorry for. The only thing he can still cope with physically is to perform tiny but quite powerless finger motions. In this way he controls his electric wheelchair with a joystick and holds a pen, and this represents his contact with freedom and in- dependence. In a certain moment he starts drawing a red balloon, slowly but persistently and precisely. While drawing he imagines how the red balloon lifts him from his wheelchair and carries him into an imaginary world where he can walk, skate, play basketball, swim... Until he finally, without any regret, returns to his chair. Suddenly all of this actually happens – as if it was a miracle, which it isn’t.
