Jovan, a student from the province convicted to serve a year in prison, starts his sentence in the department for convicted addicts. Department for addicts in the Special Prison Hospital is the only of its kind in Serbia. Junkies, dealers, young men in good health as well as cured addicts serving old sentences are all locked up together with Jovan. Some inmates can't resist the temptation, others the profit, so there is plenty of dealing and drug smuggling. The rigid hierarchy amongst inmates helps to keep the supply running away from the eyes of the jail keepers. A small group of inmates led by Mare imposes unwritten rules on the block. Jovan resists, but eventually his acquaintance with Mare becomes a user–dealer hustle. Jovan becomes addicted to heroin.
