Andreas Karamanolis, a hopeful young scientist and hopeless only son leaves his mother in hospital and his fiancee in the lurch and starts following the first person who (he thinks) looked at him with real - human, as well as erotic - interest: the young singer Katia. Without wanting to but also without doing anything to stop it, Katia not only sparks off Andreas' revolution but also draws him into her world: an isolated farm, a totally disorganized miniature world, on the brink of every sort of bankruptcy, that survives only by virtue of some inexplicable inertia… Andreas plunges in this totally "absurd" environment in the belief that he will live out one of his dreams. But Katia's father (a true Jack-of-all-trades who tries to get as rich as possible as quickly as possible), her mother (who sees her fortune as well as her life going up in smoke as a result of her husband's experiments), her grandmother (who hurls dire and obscure prophecies), a lawyer, a psychiatrist and a loan shark (with a toothache and two dim-witted goons) all conspire to turn Andreas' dream into a nightmare.
