A middle-aged couple, Anna and Stefan, tries to, in time of war, sanctions and poverty, preserve at least some of its dignified life. Both are in early retirement. The children ran out into the world and rarely call. With their pensions Anna and Stefan can live only a few days. Stefan occasionally works at his former institution, and Ana weaves women's hats. So they resist general crisis in which the most important social and human values tumble. Then Stefan loses his part-time job. Becomes intolerant, quarrels with friends who, in order to survive are violating all ethical norms. He projects his intolerance towards Anna as well, considering she humiliates herself by selling hats on the bazaar..
