Dr. Ercan Kesal was born in Avanos in 1959. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at Ege University in 1984, he worked at Keskin State Hospital and cottage hospitals in Bala and other villages in Ankara. He founded Okmeydanı Hospital in 1997, and has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Currently, he continues his doctoral degree in Anthropology at Yeditepe University. In addition to his profession, Kesal performs as an actor in many films such as "Uzak", "Uç Maymun", "Bir Zamanlar Anadolu′da", "Vavien", "Derin", "Saç", "Albatrosun Yolculuğu", and "Küf." The screen play of "Bir Zamanlar Anadolu′da", which was scripted by Kesal, and Ebru & Nuri Bilge Ceylan, was nominated to the "Best Scenario" at the 2011 Asia Pacific Screen Awards. In 2013, Kesal was awarded the "Best Actor" for his role in the film "Yozgat Blues" at the 32nd International Istanbul Film Festival.
