Alexander Morfov is an actor and director. He was born in 1960, in Yambol, Bulgaria. Morfov graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Bulgaria, where he was Julia Ognianova's student, a famous professor who was expelled from Russia. Nowadays, Morfov is considered to be one of the greatest stage directors of the Bulgarian theatre. He was the artistic director of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre in Sofia. Since 1993, his productions at the National Theatre in Sofia have been a real success: Don Quixote by Cervantes (1994), A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare (1995), The Tempest also by Shakespeare (1996) and Don Juan by Molière (2004). He has received several awards, among which are: The Bulgarian National Askeer Award, The Bulgarian Theatre Critics' Prize and the Ikar Award of The Union of Bulgarian Actors (UBA). In 2001, he wrote and directed the television series Blueberry Hills.
