Cannes Confirms Pedro Almodóvar’s Strange Way Of Life in Selection

2023-04-11 00:00:00
Pedro Almodóvar`s new film, Strange Way of Life, will have its world premiere and Official Selection at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. The Spanish director will be present with leading actors Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal for this highly anticipated screening.

Strange Way of Life is a western filmed in southern Spain and marks Pedro Almodóvar`s second foray into English-language directing, following the 2020 release of The Human Voice. The short film follows the story of Silva, a rancher who crosses a desert to find his childhood friend, Sheriff Jake, with whom he worked as a hitman 25 years ago.

The title of the film refers to the famous fado by Amalia Rodrigues and evokes the theme of the strangeness of existence when one turns one`s back on one`s own desires. Pedro Almodóvar is known for his films about universal themes such as love, desire, childhood and motherhood, and has often placed women at the center of his work.
