A landlady asks her tenant, a trumpeter, a seemingly innocent favor: to drop off a young woman and her little daughter in the city. The tenant is greatly dismayed to discover that the young woman is leaving her daughter in an orphanage. Later that day, during an audition, he pours his emotions through the notes that he plays.
